Fiiiiiiiirst off, I want to apologize to Iolite. I intended to play, but I froze up because Suzaku's gone through some major drama lately, and I couldn't parse out how he would ... react.

Now for memory!

- Catching Euphemia after he's been released from charges and spending the day with her. Getting Arthur.

What happens: This is essentially the entirety of episode five of the first season of Geass. Warning: Haphazard written as I rewatched summary below.

Euphie wants to go out, so she jumps out a window and Suzaku ends up catching her. Then they walk around and Euphie introduces herself to Suzaku, who says she knows who he is already. Suzaku mentions that she was lying but she's already wandered off to look at a cat. Who proceeds to bite his finger. Suzaku mentions that he likes cats, but the feeling isn't mutual. (Cutest scene ever.) And Euphie says that it's the mark of a kind person. And then makes him run around with her a bit on what is essentially a date. And then Euphie asks Suzaku to take her to Shinjuku, which was the place ravaged in the first episode. They overhear Britannians being rude about Elevens. Some Japanese show up to yell at the Britannians for being jerks (it's Tamaki and that other guy with the glasses, shush I just woke up), and Suzaku steps in and Tamaki yells at him after recognizing him, calling him a slave and a Britannian lap dog. It offends Suzaku and after defending himself, he flips Tamaki over and points out that he's a trained soldier. Tamaki leaves calling him a traitor. The Britannian's aren't happy with his performance because he didn't save them fast enough (or their camera), and Euphie comes over to slap them and says they can't insult him anymore. Suzaku asks Euphie if it's bad to be weak, and points out all the problems with the world when he was ten and how someone needs to break the cycle, and that someone needs to make the bad guys go away and how he doesn't want to make anyone lose loved ones. Suzaku is asked how he'll make things better, and Suzaku insists to Euphie that his father had to die in the war (though obviously he killed him). Cecile and Lloyd show up after some people are harassing Jeremiah, and Suzaku insists that he go fight things with Lancelot. And then he says his good-byes to Euphie and jumps into the battle. They try to kill Jeremiah, but Viletta comes to his rescue. Euphie runs out into the battle and tries to stop it, and a weapon is thrown at Suzaku, who protects her with his life. Euphie reveals herself as the princess of Britannia, much to Suzaku's surprise. Suzaku runs out to apologize for not realizing who she was and Euphie points out that she's lost her brother just as he's lost his father, and she asks that he help her ensure that no one has to lose a loved one again. And Suzaku says yes, I don't deserve your kind words. And why not, since it's not a memory, Suzaku joins Ashford Academy at the end.

What this means and how it'll affect him in Aather:

- Euphie Euphie Euphie Euphie Euphie
- Euphie Euphie Euphie Euphie Euphie Euphie Euphie
- Euphie Euphie Euphie Euphie Euphie Euphie Euphie Euphie
- Yeaaaaah. The biggest thing in this episode is that Euphie immediately takes to him, calls him kind (even though he's lying like a lying thing), and a lot of his philosophy of "save everyone" gets stated by him and then reinforced by her. This episode is the cornerstone of Suzaku's development in the series, given Euphie's request of him and how it leads to him being her knight. This helps explain his later memory of Euphie, and how they're aiming to make Japan a better place.
- A lot of the race and class issues haven't been explored in his other memories, but they are here. Suzaku is forced to bear witness to the place that he has supposedly turned his back on by becoming a Britannian, and he realizes exactly what he's doing by doing that. The scary part is that, despite being initially mad, he continues to react calmly, with his emotions shutting down to take care of the situation like a soldier. It's the first sign that his way of showing anger is actually to shut down entirely. The colder he is, the angrier he is.
- Suzaku is a bit of a meddler, and this is enforced by this memory. It's something that he hasn't had enforced by other memories, so it's going to happen a lot more in Aather. Injustices are a big deal and he'll be a lot more likely to bend rules to get things to work how they should, as long as he's appreciated for it. (The Britannians being unappreciative dickbags obviously bothered him.)
- Zero killed Clovis. So Lelouch killed his brother, with the information that Suzaku does have.
- This memory will level Suzaku out a bit, and make it easier for him to interact with others for a while. Which is good for the sake of my sanity.
- Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatssssssssss. Love cats.
- Euphie!!!!
