regretsDiscussing happiness as glass with Lelouch and Nunnally as children.
Discussed in R2, episode 7:
Long time ago, Nunally, Suzaku, and I talked about something. We wondered what happiness would look like if we could give it a physical form. If I'm not mistaken, I think it was Suzaku that said that the shape of happiness might resemble glass. His reasoning made sense. He said that even though you don't usually notice it, its still definitely there. You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light. I doubt that anything else could argue its own existence more eloquently.
Out of context, I don't know if this memory will have the same impact on Suzaku, since all of his memories thus far have been happy. But I think little!Suzaku realizes he's happy in this memory, and though he wouldn't notice it normally, he's with these two people and that's what makes it important. Both of them—whose names he doesn't know, but he knows he cares about them an awful lot—are different from him in the way that I think he can recognize them as not-Japanese. This is confusing, considering. This is before he kills his father, so the only thing he has going for him is caring deeply about others.
What this will mean:
- If we get a Lelouch or Nunnally, he'll recognize them. Canon tells me this much!
- He just won't know their names.
- He'll know being with them is happiness ...
- This will definitely make Suzaku a lot more optimistic, and wanting to be happy, as Beatrice requested.
- He'll just wonder what happened between then and now, but yay Lelouch and Nunnally memories!
Basic military training (shooting a gun, following orders, etc.)
This means Suzaku has been to boot camp! I am going to say that he's aware of a lot of military procedures now, as befitting of a private. He can shoot guns, follow orders, march in line, and do a lot of push-ups, sit-ups, and run for a very long time. I'm also going to assume he gets a basic gun along with this, as it'll be sitting and waiting for him. He still doesn't have his strength yet, but I believe this gives him about +20 endurance when things are getting too tough, and he'll start to sleep less. He probably also knows how to make crappy food out of mush. But that's about it.
