- Finding Zero. Shooting off Zero's mask to learn that he's Lelouch. Self-righteous rant and defeating Zero easily. Selling Lelouch out to Charles to become a Knight of Rounds.
Transcript, up to the point when I got lazy:
Suzaku walks in and shoots his gun.
Suzaku: Turn and face me slowly.
Lelouch: (Dammit! Now, of all times!)
Suzaku: Didn't you hear me, Zero? Turn and face me. Slowly.
Lelouch: Euphemia arbitrarily murdered innocent Japanese people. You'd fight for a woman like—
Suzaku: That Geass power of yours is very convenient, isn't it? You get to hide in the shadows while others take all the blame. An arrogant coward. That's your true nature. Kallen! Don't you want to know Zero's true identity, too?
Kallen: What are you saying now?!
Suzaku: You also have a right to bear witness.
As Suzaku shoots—
Kallen: Wait!
Lelouch's mask splits and shows his face. Suzaku is surprised. So is Kallen.
Kallen: How—why?
Suzaku: I didn't want to believe it.
Kallen: L-Lelouch is?
Lelouch: Yes, I'm Zero. The man who leads the Black Knights, who challenges the Holy Britannian Empire, and who holds the entire world in his hand.
Kallen: You used us Japanese ... You used me?!
Lelouch: Japan will be freed as a result. You've got nothing to complain about, surely.
Suzaku: I should have arrested you sooner.
Lelouch: You realized it was me?
Suzaku: I wasn't sure so I kept denying it to myself. I wanted to believe in you. But you were lying to us. To me, to Euphy ... Even to Nunnally!
Lelouch: Yes, and now Nunnally's been kidnapped! Suzaku, can't we have a temporary truce?! I want your help to save Nunnally! There's nothing you and I can't accomplish.
Suzaku: Don't be a fool! You should have joined up with Euphy first! If you and Euphy joined forces, the world could have been...!
Lelouch: That's all in the past! It's done!
Suzaku: The past?
Lelouch: You killed your own father, didn't you?! You can find time for regrets later!
Suzaku: No, you're hopeless!
Lelouch: What?
Suzaku: In the very end, you'd betray the entire world, like it's betrayed you! I can't let your dream be realized!
Lelouch: You fool! You think ideals alone can change the world?! Then go on! Shoot me if you're going to! And shoot this liquid sakuradite, too! If my heart stops, it'll explode! You both will die with me!
Suzaku: Damn you...!
Lelouch I'll make a deal with you. Who told you about Geass? Did they take Nunnally?!
Suzaku: Nothing that happens now is any of your business! Your very existence is a mistake! You have to be removed from the world! I'll take care of Nunnally!
Lelouch: SUZAKU!
Suzaku: LELOUCH!
THEY SHOOT AT EACH OTHER. Suzaku spinkicks toward Lelouch.
Kallen: Zero!
Suzaku: (Whilst pointing his gun at her.) He's Lelouch! The man who used the Japanese ... and you! Do you want to protect this kind of man?
After Kallen runs off.
Suzaku: Zero, I will bring an end to you.
[and then the scene transitions, him carting Lelouch to Charles, and the scene where he asks to be the Knight of Rounds. Inwardly, I am assuming he is fully conscious of the fact that by selling Lelouch over, he would be able become a Knight and eventually fulfill his plan to become the Knight of One, and thus take back Japan. In some way, it is doing something by more than ideals, but he's too crazed to see how it is akin to a Lelouch-plan.]
Summary: Out of context, this memory just makes Suzaku seem ... broken. He's broken because he loves Lelouch and he's betrayed him in some way. Suzaku doesn't know how; the distinct part of this memory is that Euphy's death isn't specifically mentioned, which is why it's great. He doesn't know anything except the great amount pain he feels and wanting more than anything to not want to be angry with Lelouch, which pushes him along. After they shoot, he becomes colder, more brittle, as the plan forms in his head and he pursues it to become a Knight of Rounds, to eventually become a Knight of One. I don't think Suzaku even realizes the importance of his unwillingness to kill Lelouch, because his logical connections aren't working.
What This Means: Suzaku now has his side of why he betrayed Lelouch and why he did it, and how angry he felt, and how much of a fucked up person Lelouch is. I am going to make a list of what it means in Aather.
- He's going to assume Lelouch has been holding back from him in some way. This memory is a huge info dump for what Zero is, and while I am assuming he is not thinking about Euphy's death (for the sake of him finding out later), he will be thinking about how Zero is a bad thing.
- He will believe that Lelouch lied about not recognizing the costume he arrived in.
- He'll be pretty protective over Kallen, actually.
- OUT OF CONTEXT, Suzaku will not be that broken by this memory. IN CONTEXT, it is significant negative, and it still is for him to blindly feel these emotions toward someone he loves so much without understanding why, but knowing he doesn't want to feel that way, but the way it is right now is verging on neutral for him. It'll depend on how his next thread with Lelouch goes.
- He WILL be pushier and more cutting. He got this memory at the same time as Beauty deciding to check out again, and he believes that happened because of people being dicks to her. He's her knight, and he serves her. This will summon a return of some of his edge that he lost.
- This DOES balance him out and give him reason to be more motivated and involved, which previous memories and circumstances weren't doing. He'll understand how he feels toward Lelouch more outside of derederederedere. (It also means I'll be a little less lost in my playing as it'll assert a balance to who Suzaku is for me, and how he views Aather as a whole.)
- THIS IS the first time he's been introduced to changing things from within. HOW THIS EFFECTS HIM MAY YET BE SEEN, but Suzaku is very much set on a means-to-ends path, which he was straying from before. His means is to work the system, so he'll be more vocal in general.
- His feelings toward Lelouch will be ... intensified, with more than love thrown in, but the desperation and need to hate and hurt him more than anything. How it'll translate is yet to be seen, but he'll be a lot more assertive in getting what he wants there.
- With Kallen, he'll be ... not COLDER, but like I said, more protective.
- While the father memory would have made him stray from Peridot again, he's more stubborn about being involved with them now, even if it's just to piss Lelouch off.
- Also important is how he detaches himself from Lelouch as Zero and calls him Zero in order to throw his plan into motion. Aather!Suzaku will recognize what he was doing there.
